4 million Americans today live with Alzheimer’s, 2/3 of those diagnosed are women. The Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement™, founded by Maria Shriver, is a global alliance of individuals, organizations, and researchers committed to finding out why Alzheimer’s discriminates against women, thus unlocking the mysteries around the disease and finding a cure for all.
What they do:
-Inform women about their increased risk for Alzheimer’s and other dementias and what they can do about it
Influence scientists to conduct gender-based research and inspire foundations, philanthropists, and corporations to support it
Raise money to support gender-based research through our annual crowd-fundraising event, Move for Minds, and other events
Share the stories of families caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s and partner with organizations to provide caregiver relief grants
